Five scenes from the daily lives of people in Fukushima – a local farmer, a local fisherman, a doctor from Tokyo, a Buddhist priest, and community activists – are woven together, not as a journalistic reportage or representation of their plight, but as an investigation on how people react to each other’s gaze, particularly in the aftermath of the 2011 tsunami and nuclear disaster. The film will result in a place of contemplation for the audience, turning their gaze on the film subjects back to the viewers themselves, leading them to a recognition of their own viewpoints.
