Mélanie Simons
Mélanie is a Belgian freelance journalist and a multimedia student in Germany. Her main subjects in her studies are radio and video journalism, international journalism and documentary making.
Melanie is highly interested in global and social issues as well as people’s personal stories. After doing several internships in the media field she produced in 2019 her first own documentary project with the focus on social issues in South Africa. In March 2020 she did a 3-months-internship in Doha at Al Jazeera English with the documentary format “Close Up”. Lately she has been on an expedition in Kyrgyzstan by herself - living with a nomad family for one month and documenting everything by camera.
Social engagement has always been part of her life. Besides her media studies and self-employment, she volunteers in many different social associations. Her goal to tell impactful stories, her international experience as well as her writing and interviewing skills made her join the Agents of Change boat as an author and co-director.
