Young Iranian refugee Ali Dorani won his freedom from four traumatic years in an Australian island immigration detention center when his blackly comic cartoons – scrawled on stolen paper under the pen-name EatenFish – became an international sensation. As Ali wrestles with the scars of his trauma in the safe haven of Norway, the parallel story of his past is inventively told through charting the construction of large-scale sets that bring EatenFish’s cartoons playfully to life. These two narrative threads – past and present – converge, by turns painfully and humorously, as we follow Ali’s search for a home where he truly feels wanted.
