Halfway

“Halfway” addresses the issue of illegal immigrants and refugees in southern Europe through telling the story of Ahmad Alexandros, known as Abu Haider. Abu Haidar is a Syrian refugee who fled with his family during the ongoing war in Syria and ended up in Greece, specifically in the city of Thessaloniki where an anti-immigrant spirit is prevalent. This film confronts the audience with one of the incomprehensibly tragic stories that are mere realities of the lives of war refugees. It intends to document Abu Haidar's struggle to leave Thessaloniki where he is stuck with his family, and his attempts to fulfill his dream of heading to the north in the hope for a better future.
