All Fucked Up

all fucked up_still

Two and a half years into the war, Ukraine faces not only loss of people but also severe mental trauma. PTSD and stress affect both civilians and soldiers. Mikael, a Danish urban designer, artist and ex-TV host living in Kyiv, proposes creating Ukraine’s first Nordic therapy garden - a healing space for those suffering psychologically. He shares his idea on social media and quickly gains support. Despite finding an ideal location near Ukraine's largest psychiatric hospital, Mikael faces bureaucratic hurdles, skepticism from doctors, and his own struggles with ADHD. Nevertheless, he persists, transforming an abandoned forest into a peaceful and healing space. As hundreds of volunteers join, questions arise about Mikael’s motives and the true impact of the garden. Is this project about healing Ukrainians or advancing his career?

Mikael’s journey challenges both the healthcare system and his own limits, raising the question of whether or not it promises hope for Ukraine’s mental health crisis and whether a foreigner, even one living in Ukraine, can really relate to the problems of Ukrainian citizens in a time of war times.
