The Gap is a powerful documentary that follows the perilous migration route through the Darien Forest, one of the world’s most dangerous paths, connecting Panama and Colombia. Over 300,000 migrants annually brave its treacherous terrain, risking their lives in search of safety and opportunity. The journey spans 30,000 kilometers of rivers, mountains, and jungle, where the migrants face deadly wildlife, brutal weather, and constant threat from organized crime. Despite these challenges, they push forward, driven by necessity and hope.

This film immerses the viewer in their harsh realities, capturing the emotional and physical toll of the journey through intimate, observational footage. It explores the systemic issues—poverty, violence, and political instability—that drive migration. The Gap highlights the shared humanity of these individuals while offering a critical look at the broader global inequality fueling forced migration. With stunning visuals and personal stories, the documentary challenges audiences to reflect on the root causes and human resilience behind such desperate journeys.
