It is a devilish challenge to preserve paradise even if you own it. The North American multi-millionaire Douglas Tompkins buys as much land as he can to transform it into private nature sanctuaries. Since the beginning of the 1990s his ecological realm has grown from one to twelve parks in Chile and Argentina. A unique enterprise.

But this fighter for virgin wilderness is resented by locals as an eco-colonialist preventing progress. Not only salmon farmers and lumber barons condemn him as a drawback to business but also ordinary people feel patronized and consider the green thinking of the "rich gringo" as a spleen.
