Every year more than 2000 North Koreans flee to South Korea. They run a high risk and leave their lives behind. In South Korea they are being welcomed as refugees and sent to Hanawon – an educational centre where they are being reschooled.
At Hanawon they learn about democracy and local customs. They learn how to use an ATM and how to use the subway. They learn how to adapt to modern life in South Korea. But how do you teach someone that?
How do you prepare a person to live in a free society?
And how does it feel to be a North Korean in South Korea?
