Afaf Mikou
Afaf is a research scientist in a field at the interface between chemistry and life science. She has extensive experience in studying the structures and function properties of proteins
using atomic-level Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy. More recently, she has been applying computer molecular modelling for drug discovery purposes by exploring and simulating the interactions between protein targets and potential drugs for treating neurological diseases.
Beyond the lab, Afaf enjoys communicating science and educating the public about the wonderful and critical findings that they should be aware of. Her efforts were widely
recognized, and she was awarded the Purkwa Prize from the French Académie des Sciences for her project dedicated to science communication in rural areas.
