Léa Hejn is a French-Danish filmmaker specialising in creative environmental, science and music documentaries. She has worked as a producer and assistant director on projects for theatrical release and National Geographic, Netflix, and HBO.

She was the assistant director on award-winning, Blue Carbon (HBO Max, Canal+), a documentary featuring Jayda G and Seu Jorge, blending music and science to advocate for coastal conservation. She also was the assistant director on Wilding (Theatrical & Apple TV) at Passion Pictures, which won Best Ecosystem Film at the Jackson Wild Festival 2024. The film is a powerful docu-drama based on Isabella Tree’s best-selling book, chronicling the rewilding of the Knepp Estate, one of the UK’s most inspiring conservation success stories.

Her directorial debut, Curupira, a docu-animation about the Amazon’s mystical guardian: ‘Curupira’, was a finalist at Jackson Wild 2023 and Wildscreen 2024.

Lea is currently developing her first feature documentary, an intimate exploration of love and creativity, following the extraordinary romance between a French-Senegalese quantum physicist and an American jazz musician.
