Toni Kamau
Kenyan-based Toni Kamau is the 2024 Sundance Amazon MGM Non-Fiction Producer Prize winner and a Peabody and News Emmy-nominated creative producer. She tells stories of African changemakers, collaborating with diverse teams to craft impactful narratives.
With strong Pan-African networks, she has produced documentaries for BBC, Al Jazeera, and Bloomberg. Her acclaimed feature documentaries include the Dupont Award-winning Softie (Sundance 2020), I Am Samuel (Hot Docs 2020), and The Battle for Laikipia (Sundance 2024).
Toni is collaborating with filmmakers from across the world, on stories exploring themes of African innovation, indigenous conservation, women in sports, African Diaspora return, and the role of undercover investigative reporters in exposing injustice.
Committed to advancing the global documentary industry, she serves as a board member of the International Documentary Association and a member of the International Engagement Committee at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
