For ten years after the war ended, Vardan did not look at his footage. He wanted to move forward, not back, but how could he do this without first understanding the war, without knowing how to explain it to his son and to all the other people who have never been there?
Incorporating footage shot in 1994, the film follows the filmmaker as he looks for the people he shared a trench with.
Vardan's intimate conversations with the people raise questions about the true cost of war, the difficulty of remaining human in the age of chaos and, perhaps more important, the ongoing struggle of these victims to find peace.
