The “Golden Age of Hollywood,” the 1930’s, was also a time of collusion, deceit, and collaboration between the major Hollywood Studios and the most feared and despised government in history, Nazi Germany. Why would an American industry which was thriving be so willing to work with and bow down to the Third Reich? We will tell the story of how one Nazi, Georg Gyssling, was able to use threats, manipulation and simmering American anti-Semitism to keep all negative references to Germany and the Nazis out of all American films for the entire decade of the 30’s.
