Children of Honey (We Are Hadza - working title)
"Rhino Woman" is a film about Maria, an elderly Hadza woman, who is one of the last to see a black rhino before they went locally extinct. Maria is a keeper of ancestral wisdom and is fighting
to preserve the traditions and culture of the Hadzabe, one of the oldest hunter-gatherer tribes in the world. However, she finds herself caught in a battle between the preservation of the old ways and the lure of modern conveniences. The community is being pressured to abandon their lifestyle and join the capitalist consumerist global paradigm. With the black rhino's extinction as a symbol of the larger environmental crisis, Maria's journey becomes a call to action to protect our planet's precious wildlife and ecosystems. This film highlights the importance of cultural preservation and the struggle between tradition and modernity.
